About the Town
Fryeburg sits on the Saco River at the edge of the White Mountains, with public put-ins for paddling and tubing along with access to Lovewell Pond and Clay Pond. Hemlock Covered Bridge, built in 1857 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, remains one of Maine’s signature covered bridges. Trails and winter activities make Fryeburg a four-season destination.
The town is home to Fryeburg Academy, founded in 1792, and supports a steady calendar of events from summer concerts at Bradley Park to downtown street fairs. The Fryeburg Fair, the state’s largest agricultural event, draws more than 150,000 visitors each fall, cementing the town’s role as both a historic center and regional gathering place.
