About the Town

Stow lies along Route 113 at the entrance to Evans Notch, a scenic pass into the White Mountain National Forest. The Deer Hills trail system begins here, and the surrounding streams and lakes support fishing, camping, and wildlife observation.

The 1993 discovery of a nine-pound amethyst crystal at Eastman Mine remains a unique historical note. Today Stow is best known for its quiet location and direct access to the national forest, which continues to shape its identity as a base for recreation.
